Beginner Tennis Lesson | How To Hit Forehands & Backhands

Click For Free Video: Beginner Tennis Lessons | How To Hit Forehands + Backhands

To hit winning forehands or backhands you must combine the right grip, with the right stance, with the right stroke, all in the right time. This Beginner tennis lesson is for all skill levels. We go over the the grip for forehand and backhand as well as how the body should move with set up and through contact. Then we quickly cover what creates topspin and how to apply it to your stroke and ultimately how you should finish out your swing. By covering these points and retaining them with repetitions, try practicing with a partner or ball machine. If you’re more of an advanced player, look over the points to see if you could learn something new. Kick the repetition drills up a notch in your own way and really cement these factors in. Have Fun! Play well.

I look forward to working with you much more in the future with Top Speed Tennis. Good luck with your tennis.

Clay Ballard

  • In cricket we practice some of the strokes hanging the ball in a sock and hitting it from bat. I guess we can do the same instead of a practice partner or a $150 machine. However you do need a place where you can hang the ball and have enough room to swing the racket.

  • Back hand looks like a left handed batsman lofting the ball over mid on field in cricket. No wonder back hand feels weird for a right handed batsman.
